The Miracle of A Course In Miracles

Course in MiraclesA Course In Miracles is a magnificent tool and document of my awakening, which is the awakening of the human species. When I first bought the book and started really reading it in my home, I was so fascinated by the power and truth of it, that I made little notes of sentences, paragraphs to take them with me to work. I knew it was the truth, and what I was always looking for. When I discovered it contained a workbook with a daily lesson to practice its ideas in every moment, I immediately wanted to do them, and did. And still do to this very day. It is my discipline of my mind in my desire for a complete solution of something totally different. The Course is not a play in philosophical ideas, does not offer another doctrine or another system of thought. No, it is a means for the undoing of my system and structure of thought, of my identity, of what I think I am as a body figure in space time, all of which is not true. What I think I am has nothing to do with reality. Yet as long as I use my thinking to define what I am, and let it tell me what to do and where I am, I will be in need of correction and the undoing of it.

Devil's Lake State ParkThat is what A Course In Miracles is about. The word of God is written in and on my mind. God's voice is talking to me all the time. Yet since I have made up a whole world to hide God and truth from my mind, there is an undoing required. It involves a process of forgetting what I have made, and also of remembering of what is true. In that my freedom and sanity of mind is restored. That is my happiness and joy. That is what I really want.

Stone telling a storyThe experience of the miracle, and the change of mind is brought about through the application of its lessons. In that there is an action of mind involved that is the inevitable consequence of the fact that it is about my mind - not someone else's mind -, and about my thoughts that I need to watch and let go. It is about my participation, and availability for something different. In doing the lessons the magnificence of the Course becomes obvious and an experience of a newness of myself that I do not want to miss for anything in the world. I do forget about it, but the world simply fails to offer me anything I really want, once I have experienced this new mind of light and truth and power beyond the darkness and littleness of this world.

Stone revealedHow about you? If you would not need the lessons, you would not need A Course In Miracles, and you would not be here at all. Since you find yourself here, you have only one choice. That is to be about your Father's business, and to train and teach your mind to a new perception of each and everyone in the world. What else is there to do? Getting old and sick and dying in the end is not an option. It is insanity.

I invite you to watch two little clips of a good friend of mine. Greta is her name, and she loves the Course. I love the way how she expresses her appreciation for it. She is very passionate about its mind training. See for yourself.

Thanks for watching...

Let's pray with Jesus.

How can illusions satisfy God's Son?

"Father, the truth belongs to me. My home is set in Heaven by Your Will and mine. Can dreams content me? Can illusions bring me happiness? What but Your memory can satisfy Your Son? I will accept no less than You have given me. I am surrounded by Your Love, forever still, forever gentle and forever safe. God's Son must be as You created him.

Today we pass illusions by. And if we hear temptation call to us to stay and linger in a dream, we turn aside and ask ourselves if we, the Sons of God, could be content with dreams, when Heaven can be chosen just as easily as hell, and love will happily replace all fear." (ACIM, Lesson 272)

Why It Is Always A Miracle

Here is an incredible statement from A Course In Miracles. It is in chapter 9, section VII, "The Two Evaluations". You find these gems whenever you open the book in need of help, asking for a new perspective. How true that is!!!

landscape of stoneHaving had an experience of something not from me, or of something not from my closed thought system and its effects, I can see why when in doubt, conflict or fear, I simply need a miracle. I cannot correct myself, because I am part of the problem. In fact, I am the problem.

I can only let it be, ask for help and trust in something beyond me to provide me with the solution. I use Jesus Christ who gave this Course In Miracles to me to heal my mind. In Him I receive help and correction. And this is all the training I need; that I learn to step back and listen to the Teacher who knows the answer. Everyone hears the answer, but few choose to listen. When I think I know, I won't listen. I don't know. In not knowing is therefore my salvation, because only then will I stop to listen to my own voice and not provide the answer that does not work. What when I do think I know? Well, I have to use up what I hold on to. The faster I see that I only use the past, and can let go of it, the less pain will I experience. It is all up to me. Jesus is always with me, yet I have to choose to listen and want only His solution.

"You cannot evaluate an insane belief system from within it. Its range precludes this. You can only go beyond it, look back from a point where sanity exists and see the contrast. Only by this contrast can insanity be judged as insane. With the grandeur of God in you, you have chosen to be little and to lament your littleness. Within the system that dictated this choice the lament is inevitable. Your littleness is taken for granted there and you do not ask, "Who granted it?" The question is meaningless within the ego's thought system, because it would open the whole thought system to question.

I have said that the ego does not know what a real question is. Lack of knowledge of any kind is always associated with unwillingness to know, and this produces a total lack of knowledge simply because knowledge is total. Not to question your littleness therefore is to deny all knowledge, and keep the ego's whole thought system intact. You cannot retain part of a thought system, because it can be questioned only at its foundation. And this must be questioned from beyond it, because within it its foundation does stand. The Holy Spirit judges against the reality of the ego's thought system merely because He knows its foundation is not true. Therefore, nothing that arises from it means anything. He judges every belief you hold in terms of where it comes from. If it comes from God, He knows it to be true. If it does not, He knows that it is meaningless.

fairy forestWhenever you question your value, say:

God Himself is incomplete without me.

Remember this when the ego speaks, and you will not hear it. The truth about you is so lofty that nothing unworthy of God is worthy of you. Choose, then, what you want in these terms, and accept nothing that you would not offer to God as wholly fitting for Him. You do not want anything else. Return your part to Him, and He will give you all of Himself in exchange for the return of what belongs to Him and renders Him complete." (ACIM, Chapter 9.VII)

God is incomplete without you. Yet God cannot be incomplete. So, what about you?

Read Leaves on stone

There is only totality. That is the foundation for forgiveness in this world. The world is a hallucination including the one making this statement. It is undone by the application of the mind training of A Course In Miracles BY my mind, since it is not outside of me.

The Problem of Teaching Jesus and A Course In Miracles

"When Jesus Christ of Nazareth 2000 years ago stood up to teach, all He would really teach you is that God is Love. He cannot not teach “Love your enemy” because you hate and despise and reject your enemy. This is how simple this is. Don’t you see?

And I can pick up the Holy Bible and read that to you and that might or might not mean something to you. It hasn’t meant anything to you in 2000 years. The idea that you should love your enemy hasn’t meant anything to you in 2000 years, and it would be very unlikely that the circumstances in which you find yourself will allow you to love your enemy since he already is your enemy.

Moon light on Devil's Lake

This is the whole problem with trying to teach A Course in Miracles, as you are aware, because the idea of forgiveness -- the forgiveness of your enemy -- is not possible if you live with a god of fear. It is impossible to forgive your enemy if he is constructed separately from you, because your fear of god would demand your attention to the fear of him, so that forgiveness becomes meaningless. Do you see that? The idea that you would have to forgive somebody who could actually wrong you would make forgiveness impossible. This is the dilemma of the rejection of the teachings of Jesus and, obviously, the Course in Miracles.

“I threw the Course away,” said somebody last week, “simply because it’s not relevant to my condition.” That’s a fact of the matter. “I threw away the teachings of Jesus Christ because the teachings of Jesus Christ are not relevant to my problem. The Course says to ignore my children, let them starve, and go to Heaven.” That’s exactly what the Course does not say. Yet that’s exactly what that woman heard that the Course says. So do you still. You actually believe the Course teaches you to forgive your enemy -- that you must practice forgiveness of those outside of you who are wronging you and causing you the problems in your association. It’s exactly the opposite. The entire teaching of Sermon on the Mount, of all whole minds, is that you are the cause of this.

Once more: The entire teaching of Jesus Christ of Nazareth is: As a man thinketh, he will get the result of his own mind in relationship with himself. Period.

Now we’re at the crux of this teaching, which you have become ready to hear. All power is given unto you in Heaven and in earth.
(Matthew 28:18) There is nothing that you cannot do. Giving power to God without your entire association will just give you fear of God. The idea that you would fear God is simply the idea that you would fear something outside yourself. You then require the power of that something outside of you to justify your continuing separation from singular reality." (The Master Teacher of A Course In Miracles in 'Timeless Voice of Resurrected Mind')

Evening light in forest

I am surrounded by the Love of God.

Father, You stand before me and behind, beside me, in the place I see myself, and everywhere I go. You are in all the things I look upon, the sounds I hear, and every hand that reaches for my own. In You time disappears, and place becomes a meaningless belief. For what surrounds Your Son and keeps him safe is Love Itself. There is no Source but This, and nothing is that does not share Its holiness; that stands beyond Your one creation, or without the Love Which holds all things within Itself. Father, Your Son is like Yourself. We come to You in Your Own Name today, to be at peace within Your everlasting Love.

My brothers, join with me in this today. This is salvation's prayer. Must we not join in what will save the world, along with us? (ACIM, Lesson 264)

What The Hell Are You Doing Here?

What the hell are you doing here? What did you do to end up on this planet in this universe? Something terribly stupid, sinful, ignorant, or arrogant?

These are just some answers that are given to this question of why are you here. You have to ask this yourself. The question is unavoidable. It is there, and you will look straight at it, when you watch a video of the Hubble Deep Field. Some say, it is the single most important picture ever taken. It is breathtaking.

It is also interesting to watch the answers that come up to answer the question. How willing am I to put up with littleness? What little causes do I accept to justify my being here on this mud ball?

Also, how easy it gets to see myself here as in one boat with everyone else here! How small my flimsy excuses not to love everyone here do get in the light of this. How easy it is to see that we all must share one and the same interest, no matter how deluded and misled we are in our individual stories! Basically every story is one of separation, fear, lack of love, and the search for a way out. Everyone is looking for a way out.

Is there a way out? How about you?
Did you grow tired of what you do/are here?
Did you find a way out?

I can not tell what anyone has to do, nor how he will find his way out. Yet I can tell there is a way out. I found this way in A Course In Miracles. Its message might make more sense to you in the light of the Hubble Deep Field and your experience of it. It talks about YOU, about what you do in your mind. It talks about the action of your mind. Are you in defense of who you think you are, or in release or your self-concept? Are you in fear - non-existing - or are you in love? Do you contract, or do you extend?

"Every defense takes fragments of the whole, assembles them without regard to all their true relationships, and thus constructs illusions of a whole that is not there. It is this process that imposes threat, and not whatever outcome may result. When parts are wrested from the whole and seen as separate and wholes within themselves, they become symbols standing for attack upon the whole; successful in effect, and never to be seen as whole again. And yet you have forgotten that they stand but for your own decision of what should be real, to take the place of what is real." (ACIM, Lesson 136)

It is a lesson about sickness, being a defense against the truth. I love it. Here we go...

"Sickness is a decision. It is not a thing that happens to you, quite unsought, which makes you weak and brings you suffering. It is a choice you make, a plan you lay, when for an instant truth arises in your own deluded mind, and all your world appears to totter and prepare to fall. Now are you sick, that truth may go away and threaten your establishments no more.

How do you think that sickness can succeed in shielding you from truth? Because it proves the body is not separate from you, and so you must be separate from the truth. You suffer pain because the body does, and in this pain are you made one with it. Thus is your "true" identity preserved, and the strange, haunting thought that you might be something beyond this little pile of dust silenced and stilled. For see, this dust can make you suffer, twist your limbs and stop your heart, commanding you to die and cease to be.

Thus is the body stronger than the truth, which asks you live, but cannot overcome your choice to die. And so the body is more powerful than everlasting life, Heaven more frail than hell, and God's design for the salvation of His Son opposed by a decision stronger than His Will. His Son is dust, the Father incomplete, and chaos sits in triumph on His throne.

Such is your planning for your own defense. And you believe that Heaven quails before such mad attacks as these, with God made blind by your illusions, truth turned into lies, and all the universe made slave to laws which your defenses would impose on it. Yet who believes illusions but the one who made them up? Who else can see them and react to them as if they were the truth?

God knows not of your plans to change His Will. The universe remains unheeding of the laws by which you thought to govern it. And Heaven has not bowed to hell, nor life to death. You can but choose to think you die, or suffer sickness or distort the truth in any way. What is created is apart from all of this. Defenses are plans to defeat what cannot be attacked. What is unalterable cannot change. And what is wholly sinless cannot sin.

Such is the simple truth. It does not make appeal to might nor triumph. It does not command obedience, nor seek to prove how pitiful and futile your attempts to plan defenses that would alter it. Truth merely wants to give you happiness, for such its purpose is. Perhaps it sighs a little when you throw away its gifts, and yet it knows, with perfect certainty, that what God wills for you must be received.

It is this fact that demonstrates that time is an illusion. For time lets you think what God has given you is not the truth right now, as it must be. The Thoughts of God are quite apart from time. For time is but another meaningless defense you made against the truth. Yet what He wills is here, and you remain as He created you.

Truth has a power far beyond defense, for no illusions can remain where truth has been allowed to enter. And it comes to any mind that would lay down its arms, and cease to play with folly. It is found at any time; today, if you will choose to practice giving welcome to the truth." (same lesson, emphasis by me)

Tomorrow is International Day of Peace. What peace would I want except the peace of God, when I know, that our galaxy is one of about 100 billion galaxies, each one an island of stars in a dark and empty universe. What solution for any problem I may perceive would I consider worth pursuing?

Fuck that. I am going home. That is the only way to find peace and share it. Bodies cannot share.

Back to Basics

A Course In Miracles is first and foremost a tool for my awakening and remembering who I am. Realizing that there is nothing in this world that is worth holding onto, I am in need of training my mind to focus on what is really worthy of my attention. What can be and does get taken away from me at any moment, is certainly not what I can use to depend on. If that is so, whatever I see is meaningless, and can have only the meaning that I have given it. Yet Jesus says in lesson 7 that it is always over. I see only the past. So what am I doing?

All I can do is to teach A Course In Miracles. I assert in my mind the ideas of Jesus that are given me in A Course In Miracles. It is my salvation that one voice in my mind appeared that tells me that there is no world, that everything I see is completely meaningless, and that my only purpose is to wake up. One is enough. One voice in my mind stands for the truth.

I am very grateful. Thank God that I can teach myself, that there is only me to be taught. I am teaching only myself, and do teach in every moment, because there is no choice in that. I let this be true, I choose to listen to Jesus, teaching. That is ME teaching myself. As I let this be so for me, Jesus becomes me teaching myself. His learning becomes my learning. I teach myself, and realize there is only one Self. There is only one Mind, one Self and one Life. I think, all I want to express here is the idea of acceptance. Acceptance is my key to a different experience. As I let Jesus mean/teach what he says, I get the benefit from that, meaning I experience it as true. I have stepped back, and my block to the awareness of love's presence is removed.

Back to basics is what I need, over and over again, to free myself from old thought patterns, looking at the past or anticipating the future. Life is not that. How insidious and deeply rooted in my mind is that thought system of separation, judgment and denial of God's love all around me! HELP!

"Nothing I see means anything.
I have given everything I see all the meaning it has for me.
I do not understand anything I see.
These thoughts do not mean anything.
I am never upset for the reason I think.
I am upset because I see what is not there.
I see only the past.

I want to be free. I want to experience the peace of God. There is nothing outside of me. That is all I want.

Let There Be Light

Today's entry is about light, and the desire for the light that heals and enlightens to lift me out of this dream of separation and death to the remembrance of God.

First, I let Edgar Allan Poe express his gratitude to a lady who saved once his life.

Then there is an invitation to an experiment -- to experience this light here and now. By considering God's Will we can let go of idle wishes and grievances that hide the light in us. In so doing our false sense of separation and of being imprisoned in a body is undone and replaced with the truth of what we really are. Forgiveness is the key to eternal life.

(This lady at one time, by her kind nursing, saved Poe’s life. – Ed.)

Of all who hail thy presence as the
Of all whom thine absence is the
The blotting utterly from out high
The sacred sun – of all who, weeping,
bless thee
Hourly for hope – for life – ah, above
For the resurrection of deep buried
In truth, in virtue, in humanity-
Of all who, on despairs unhallowed bed
Lying down to die, have suddenly arisen
At thy soft-murmured words, “Let there be light !”
At thy soft-murmured words, that were fulfilled
In the seraphic glancing of thine eyes-
Of all who owe thee most, whose gratitude
Nearest resembles worship, - oh, remember
The truest, the most fervently devoted,
And think that these weak lines are
written by him-
By him who, as he pens them, thrills to
His spirit is communig with an angel’s.
Edgar Allan Poe

This is lesson 73 from A Course In Miracles:

I will there be light.

"Today we are considering the will you share with God. This is not the same as the ego's idle wishes, out of which darkness and nothingness arise. The will you share with God has all the power of creation in it. The ego's idle wishes are unshared, and therefore have no power at all. Its wishes are not idle in the sense that they can make a world of illusions in which your belief can be very strong. But they are idle indeed in terms of creation. They make nothing that is real.

Idle wishes and grievances are partners or co-makers in picturing the world you see. The wishes of the ego gave rise to it, and the ego's need for grievances, which are necessary to maintain it, peoples it with figures that seem to attack you and call for "righteous" judgment. These figures become the middlemen the ego employs to traffic in grievances. They stand between your awareness and your brothers' reality. Beholding them, you do not know your brothers or your Self.

Your will is lost to you in this strange bartering, in which guilt is traded back and forth, and grievances increase with each exchange. Can such a world have been created by the Will the Son of God shares with his Father? Did God create disaster for His Son? Creation is the Will of Both together. Would God create a world that kills Himself?

Today we will try once more to reach the world that is in accordance with your will. The light is in it because it does not oppose the Will of God. It is not Heaven, but the light of Heaven shines on it. Darkness has vanished. The ego's idle wishes have been withdrawn. Yet the light that shines upon this world reflects your will, and so it must be in you that we will look for it.

Your picture of the world can only mirror what is within. The source of neither light nor darkness can be found without. Grievances darken your mind, and you look out on a darkened world. Forgiveness lifts the darkness, reasserts your will, and lets you look upon a world of light. We have repeatedly emphasized that the barrier of grievances is easily passed, and cannot stand between you and your salvation. The reason is very simple. Do you really want to be in hell? Do you really want to weep and suffer and die?

Forget the ego's arguments which seek to prove all this is really Heaven. You know it is not so. You cannot want this for yourself. There is a point beyond which illusions cannot go. Suffering is not happiness, and it is happiness you really want. Such is your will in truth. And so salvation is your will as well. You want to succeed in what we are trying to do today. We undertake it with your blessing and your glad accord.

We will succeed today if you remember that you want salvation for yourself. You want to accept God's plan because you share in it. You have no will that can really oppose it, and you do not want to do so. Salvation is for you. Above all else, you want the freedom to remember Who you really are. Today it is the ego that stands powerless before your will. Your will is free, and nothing can prevail against it.

Therefore, we undertake the exercises for today in happy confidence, certain that we will find what it is your will to find, and remember what it is your will to remember. No idle wishes can detain us, nor deceive us with an illusion of strength. Today let your will be done, and end forever the insane belief that it is hell in place of Heaven that you choose.

We will begin our longer practice periods with the recognition that God's plan for salvation, and only His, is wholly in accord with your will. It is not the purpose of an alien power, thrust upon you unwillingly. It is the one purpose here on which you and your Father are in perfect accord. You will succeed today, the time appointed for the release of the Son of God from hell and from all idle wishes. His will is now restored to his awareness. He is willing this very day to look upon the light in him and be saved.

After reminding yourself of this, and determining to keep your will clearly in mind, tell yourself with gentle firmness and quiet certainty:

I will there be light. Let me behold the
light that reflects God's Will and mine.

Then let your will assert itself, joined with the power of God and united with your Self. Put the rest of the practice period under Their guidance. Join with Them as They lead the way.

In the shorter practice periods, again make a declaration of what you really want. Say:

I will there be light. Darkness is not my will.

This should be repeated several times an hour. It is most important, however, to apply today's idea in this form immediately you are tempted to hold a grievance of any kind. This will help you let your grievances go, instead of cherishing them and hiding them in darkness."

To experience light more constantly, and undergo your own spiritual awakening, you might want to come to Endeavor Academy.

Update and new Emerson Lens on Squidoo

I welcome everyone to visit my new intro on my God lens on Squidoo, called "God Judgeth No Man, But Giveth Only".

What was the intro now consists of three parts. I wrote a new first part about how I came to the Course In Miracles, involving the loss of my awareness of God, then losing my religion, and simply a miracle of finding a new relationship with God. It is a story of transformation, still going on. Maybe your story is like mine. Write me a comment, if you like.

Further, I made a new lens about Ralph Waldo Emerson, whom I love. He is a great writer of powerful insight and intuition. His passionate love for truth and the teachings of Christ is very inspiring to me. In my lens you will find three reasons for why to love Emerson, some ideas from Master Teacher that he expressed in regard to Emerson, and of course, helpful links and suggestions for books.

Below is a quote from a talk Emerson delivered to the Senior Class in Divinity College, July 15, 1838. It is known as the "Divinity School Address."

"Meantime, whilst the doors of the temple stand open, night and day, before every man, and the oracles of this truth cease never, it is guarded by one stern condition; this, namely; it is an intuition. It cannot be received at second hand. Truly speaking, it is not instruction, but provocation, that I can receive from another soul. What he announces, I must find true in me...

Jesus Christ belonged to the true race of prophets. He saw with open eye the mystery of the soul. Drawn by its severe harmony, ravished with its beauty, he lived in it, and had his being there. Alone in all history, he estimated the greatness of man. One man was true to what is in you and me. He saw that God incarnates himself in man, and evermore goes forth anew to take possession of his world. He said, in this jubilee of sublime emotion, `I am divine. Through me, God acts; through me, speaks. Would you see God, see me; or, see thee, when thou also thinkest as I now think.'

But what a distortion did his doctrine and memory suffer in the same, in the next, and the following ages! There is no doctrine of the Reason which will bear to be taught by the Understanding. The understanding caught this high chant from the poet's lips, and said, in the next age, `This was Jehovah come down out of heaven. I will kill you, if you say he was a man.' The idioms of his language, and the figures of his rhetoric, have usurped the place of his truth; and churches are not built on his principles, but on his tropes. Christianity became a Mythus, as the poetic teaching of Greece and of Egypt, before. He spoke of miracles; for he felt that man's life was a miracle, and all that man doth, and he knew that this daily miracle shines, as the character ascends. But the word Miracle, as pronounced by Christian churches, gives a false impression; it is Monster. It is not one with the blowing clover and the falling rain.

He felt respect for Moses and the prophets; but no unfit tenderness at postponing their initial revelations, to the hour and the man that now is; to the eternal revelation in the heart. Thus was he a true man. Having seen that the law in us is commanding, he would not suffer it to be commanded. Boldly, with hand, and heart, and life, he declared it was God. Thus is he, as I think, the only soul in history who has appreciated the worth of a man."

I love this, because it is very obvious that he found in himself what everyone else is looking for. He is very certain about the truth of his relationship with Jesus and his ideas. He is in no way a blind follower of dogma, but an inspiring motivation for everyone to find truth, happiness and peace in himself. And I love his style.

Addendum: I forgot to mention my recent update of my Forgiveness Lens. I included the first seven lessons of the Course, and put them up with some nice photographs.
The first seven lessons of the Course are the basics of the mind training to undo false perception. It has nothing to do with the idea of forgiveness as taught in the world. Remember, the world knows NOTHING about forgiveness, and as it is practiced, it is nothing but a judgment, adding further punishment to him, who failed. Thank God for the Course.

Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road?

Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road?
Crossing the road, the chicken did not chicken out, did it?

In case you are interested about the philosophy of your nature and being, see what some of the great thinkers might have answered.

Plato: For the greater good.

Karl Marx: It was a historical inevitability.

Machiavelli: So that its subjects will view it with admiration, as a chicken which has the daring and courage to boldly cross the road, but also with fear, for whom among them has the strength to contend with such a paragon of avian virtue? In such a manner is the princely chicken's dominion maintained.

Hippocrates: Because of an excess of light pink gooey stuff in its pancreas.

Jacques Derrida: Any number of contending discourses may be discovered within the act of the chicken crossing the road, and each interpretation is equally valid as the authorial intent can never be discerned, because structuralism is DEAD, DAMMIT, DEAD!

Thomas de Torquemada: Give me ten minutes with the chicken and I'll find out.

Timothy Leary: Because that's the only kind of trip the Establishment would let it take.

Douglas Adams: Forty-two.

Nietzsche: Because if you gaze too long across the Road, the Road gazes also across you.

Oliver North: National Security was at stake.

B.F. Skinner: Because the external influences which had pervaded its sensorium from birth had caused it to develop in such a fashion that it would tend to cross roads, even while believing these actions to be of its own free will.

Carl Jung: The confluence of events in the cultural gestalt necessitated that individual chickens cross roads at this historical juncture, and therefore synchronicitously brought such occurrences into being.

Jean-Paul Sartre: In order to act in good faith and be true to itself, the chicken found it necessary to cross the road.

Ludwig Wittgenstein: The possibility of "crossing" was encoded into the objects "chicken" and "road", and circumstances came into being which caused the actualization of this potential occurrence.

Albert Einstein: Whether the chicken crossed the road or the road crossed the chicken depends upon your frame of reference.

Aristotle: To actualize its potential.

Buddha: If you ask this question, you deny your own chicken-nature.

Howard Cosell: It may very well have been one of the most astonishing events to grace the annals of history. An historic, unprecedented avian biped with the temerity to attempt such an herculean achievement formerly relegated to homo sapien pedestrians is truly a remarkable occurence.

Salvador Dali: The Fish.

Darwin: It was the logical next step after coming down from the trees.

Emily Dickinson: Because it could not stop for death.

Epicurus: For fun.

Ralph Waldo Emerson: It didn't cross the road; it transcended it.

Johann von Goethe: The eternal hen-principle made it do it.

Ernest Hemingway: To die. In the rain.

Werner Heisenberg: We are not sure which side of the road the chicken was on, but it was moving very fast.

David Hume: Out of custom and habit.

Jack Nicholson: 'Cause it (censored) wanted to. That's the (censored) reason.

Pyrrho the Skeptic: What road?

Ronald Reagan: I forget.

John Sununu: The Air Force was only too happy to provide the transportation, so quite understandably the chicken availed himself of the opportunity.

The Sphinx: You tell me.

Mr. T: If you saw me coming you'd cross the road too!

Henry David Thoreau: To live deliberately ... and suck all the marrow out of life.

Mark Twain: The news of its crossing has been greatly exaggerated.

Molly Yard: It was a hen!

Zeno of Elea: To prove it could never reach the other side.

Chaucer: So priketh hem nature in hir corages.

Wordsworth: To wander lonely as a cloud.

The Godfather: I didn't want its mother to see it like that.

Keats: Philosophy will clip a chicken's wings.

Blake: To see heaven in a wild fowl.

Othello: Jealousy.

Dr Johnson: Sir, had you known the Chicken for as long as I have, you would not so readily enquire, but feel rather the need to resist such a public Display of your own lamentable and incorrigible Ignorance.

Mrs Thatcher: This chicken's not for turning.

Supreme Soviet: There has never been a chicken in this photograph.

Oscar Wilde: Why, indeed? One's social engagements whilst in town ought never expose one to such barbarous inconvenience - although, perhaps, if one must cross a road, one may do far worse than to cross it as the chicken in question.

Kafka: Hardly the most urgent enquiry to make of a low-grade insurance clerk who woke up that morning as a hen.

Swift: It is, of course, inevitable that such a loathsome, filth-ridden and degraded creature as Man should assume to question the actions of one in all respects his superior.

Macbeth: To have turned back were as tedious as to go o'er.

Whitehead: Clearly, having fallen victim to the fallacy of misplaced concreteness.

Freud: Um auf die andere Seite zu kommen. (Much laughter)

Hamlet: That is not the question.

Donne: It crosseth for thee.

Pope: It was mimicking my Lord Hervey.

Constable: To get a better view.

Who said there ever was a chicken?
Who is reading this?
Who wrote this?

Shut up!

Awakening to who you really are is very real and funny, if you remember to laugh, certainly at times very embarrasing. There is nothing more joyous than experiencing your light and giving it away.

Getting Out Of Hell

"I've been thinking `bout getting out of hell. Everybody knows the way, everybody wants to be the same. Everybody plays the game..."

That is part of the lyrics of the song "Walk with me" by Goodbooks. You can listen to it on this embed player by Sonific. (If you, due to the particular setup of this page, don't see this player displayed after the next three lines, please click on the headline of this post to load it anew.)

I like it a lot I have to say.

"Come on, I want you to walk with me..." Getting out of hell...

Getting out of hell... Where will you go? The only way you can go. There is nowhere else for you to go. Not this.

"In you is all of Heaven. Every leaf that falls is given life in you. Each bird that ever sang will sing again in you. And every flower that ever bloomed has saved its perfume and its loveliness for you. What aim can supersede the Will of God and of His Son, that Heaven be restored to him for whom it was created as his only home? Nothing before and nothing after it. No other place; no other state nor time. Nothing beyond nor nearer. Nothing else. In any form. This can you bring to all the world, and all the thoughts that entered it and were mistaken for a little while. How better could your own mistakes be brought to truth than by your willingness to bring the light of Heaven with you, as you walk beyond the world of darkness into light?" (A Course In Miracles, Chapter 25, The Light You Bring)

It may seem to be impossible. It may seem to be the impossible dream, to outrageous to even think of. Yet what in hell would I have to tell myself in order to reject this possibility of freedom unopposed, joy without opposite? I could never be happy with meager gifts such as having to work my way through this life or not, making money, having a nice relationship and lots of friends, only to die in the end.

However gracefully you may plan to orchestrate it, it is still hell. Everyone knows it. Everyone knows at the end of the day that there has to be more to life. "What the hell was that all about...?" Everyone constantly forgets this. Yet the end to this nightmare is certain. It is certain, because it is impossible.

Getting out of hell, waking up from this dream of death and separation, getting out of hell instead of deceiving yourself that there could still be something here that will work. "This time it will work", one says, only to end up in another death sequence. It won't work. There is no peace except the peace of God. That is what A Course In Miracles is about. Nothing more, nothing less than that. It is a mind training, teaching you to let go, to ask for help, to change your mind.

It is always about ideas. Ideas that keep you here. Ideas that set you free. Ideas that are false. Ideas that are true. Ideas that make you think. "How about that...? Let me see..." There is always one who has to decide. Nothing happens by accident. Nothing can happen to you without your consent. You are the governor and king of your world. You rule it, or you let it rule you by your decision. Yet you are not alone in this process. The question is always, with whom do you make your decisions.

"Nothing can be caused without some form of union, be it with a dream of judgment or the Voice for God. Decisions cause results because they are not made in isolation. They are made by you and your adviser, for yourself and for the world as well. The day you want you offer to the world, for it will be what you have asked for, and will reinforce the rule of your adviser in the world. Whose kingdom is the world for you today? What kind of day will you decide to have?" (A Course In Miracles, Chapter 30, Rules for Decisions)

If you need help to make up your mind, let's pray...

"Whatever suffers is not part of me.

I have disowned the truth. Now let me be as faithful in disowning falsity. Whatever suffers is not part of me. What grieves is not myself. What is in pain is but illusion in my mind. What dies was never living in reality, and did but mock the truth about myself. Now I disown self-concepts and deceits and lies about the holy Son of God. Now am I ready to accept him back as God created him, and as he is.

Father, my ancient love for You returns, and lets me love Your Son again as well. Father, I am as You created me. Now is Your Love remembered, and my own. Now do I understand that they are one.
" (Workbook of A Course In Miracles, Lesson 248)

Undergoing your spiritual awakening and realization of who you really are is literally getting out of hell. Ask for help, ask for a miracle.

Einstein's Final Equation

For this to write down on the board, Einstein had to come back. To say, "God doesn't roll dice..." does not imply this idea that there is no world. Yet now is the time for us to hear and accept the idea of true freedom and who we are in truth. God does roll dice, but there are no spots on His dice. That leaves all judgment to His Son which is YOU, His only Son. God only gives. God only creates, extends outward and through You.

Caught in this dream of separation and death you are now - devastated by your need for revenge and attack upon yourself, and finally bored with the same old story over and over again - at the point of awakening to a new dream of forgiveness and healing. For this you need and have available a mind training called A Course In Miracles, to train your mind to a different perception of everyone and everything in the world.

You do not have to accept or even welcome the ideas the workbook of A Course In Miracles presents. In your application of its ideas as they are given, with no reservation as to what they can be applied, you experience a new perspective, a new frequency and harmony of mind that allows you to undergo a very real transformation of your self-identity that is not only mental, but also emotional and physical. This now is YOUR resurrection. It is your inclusion of yourself with what was always, is and always will be true.

It is truly a miracle to have this mind training available. It teaches you the curriculum that - finally - is not yours to choose. Accepting it provides you with the fundamentals of the act of forgiveness. Learning to forgive lets you easily stay free from the ravages of your conceptual fearful limited mind construct.

Remember, you are already perfect. All that is necessary is that the blocks to your awareness of the presence of love, which is what you are, which is your natural inheritance, are removed and undone. That is all. It is very simple. It is always only you in your own way, you being your own obstacle. One problem, one solution. There is no one else doing to you what you seem to go through. There is only you.

That is salvation's only secret.

Here are two beautiful prayers - lessons 243 and 244 - from the workbook of A Course in Miracles helping you to acquire a new perception:

"Today I will judge nothing that occurs."

"I will be honest with myself today. I will not think that I already know what must remain beyond my present grasp. I will not think I understand the whole from bits of my perception, which are all that I can see. Today I recognize that this is so. And so I am relieved of judgments that I cannot make. Thus do I free myself and what I look upon, to be in peace as God created us.

Father, today I leave creation free to be itself. I honor all its parts, in which I am included. We are one because each part contains Your memory, and truth must shine in all of us as one."

"Relieved of judgments that I cannot make..." Judge not that you may be free...

"I am in danger nowhere in the world."

"Your Son is safe wherever he may be, for You are there with him. He need but call upon Your Name, and he will recollect his safety and Your Love, for they are one. How can he fear or doubt or fail to know he cannot suffer, be endangered, or experience unhappiness, when he belongs to You, beloved and loving, in the safety of Your Fatherly embrace?

And there we are in truth. No storms can come into the hallowed haven of our home. In God we are secure. For what can come to threaten God Himself, or make afraid what will forever be a part of Him?"
No storms can threaten him who as accepted the love of God. And peace of mind is the only experience then, revealing to you who you really are.

You will experience the peace of God simply by desiring to do so. Start with the mind training of A Course In Miracles.
